PNG Former Miss Bird of Paradise Queen Tyla Singirok Announces Departure

Former PNG inaugural Miss Bird of Paradise winner Tyla Krystal Singirok has officially bowed out from the Miss Bird of Paradise PNG platform, ending her involvement with the organisation after serving both on stage and behind the scenes.

In a statement shared publicly, Ms Singirok spoke about the emotional decision to move on from the pageant community, saying she wanted to dedicate more time towards achieving her personal ambitions and future plans.

Her name became part of the pageant’s history after she secured the inaugural national crown in 2023, becoming the first representative to carry the Miss Bird of Paradise PNG title.

Even after completing her reign, she remained connected to the organisation by joining the operations team as a volunteer during the leadership of former titleholder May Hasola in 2025.

Ms Singirok said stepping away followed careful thought and self-reflection about where she wanted her future journey to head.

She acknowledged the support and experiences she received during her years with the organisation and thanked the committee members and fellow contestants she had worked alongside.

The former queen also wished reigning titleholder Iampela Popena and organisers all the best as preparations continue for this year’s national pageant event scheduled for December.

The competition is expected to attract 22 provincial queens from across the country vying for the national crown.

“After taking stock of my own goals, I’ve decided to formally step away from this role to focus on some of the things that I want to achieve.

“This decision comes with a great deal of reflection and emotion, but it is one I feel is right for me at this time.

“I am sincerely grateful for the opportunities, experiences, lessons and memories of love and laughter that I have gained throughout my time as inaugural MBoP as well as volunteering on the Ops team.
