He said the Government is concentrating on delivering tangible results rather than being drawn into early political campaigning, stressing that service delivery remains the key test for leadership.
“Our responsibility is not to speculate about elections, but to deliver outcomes for our people. Roads, agriculture, jobs, law and order – these are the issues that matter. The people will judge us on performance,” he said.
Mr Marape pointed to past elections where sitting governments have both gained and lost seats, describing it as a clear reflection of voters exercising their democratic rights.
“You win some, you lose some. That is democracy. No Government can predetermine outcomes – the people always decide,” he said.
He revealed that preparations are already underway to strengthen electoral systems ahead of 2027, including improved coordination with the Electoral Commission and stronger parliamentary scrutiny.
According to the Prime Minister, transparency and accountability will remain central, with inclusive oversight arrangements aimed at ensuring election processes are open and credible.
He also outlined plans to reinforce professionalism within election security operations, including strict neutrality for security personnel and tougher disciplinary action against misconduct.
“Security forces are there to protect the process – not participate in it. Their role is to ensure every citizen can vote freely and safely,” he said.
Mr Marape confirmed that the PANGU Pati will hold its national convention in June, where internal reforms, leadership structures and renewal proposals will be discussed.
He said leadership decisions within Government continue to be guided by merit, performance and stability, adding that continuity is necessary to complete national priorities.
Calling for responsible public engagement, he urged leaders and the media to promote informed discussion as the country prepares for the next election.
“Our country deserves informed, responsible dialogue that builds confidence and unity,” he said.
He further encouraged citizens to take the 2027 polls seriously and make informed choices.
“Elections determine the future of the nation. I encourage every Papua New Guinean to vote wisely, based on leadership, policy and integrity,” he said.
