The assistance was delivered to Monono Sub-Health Centre and Wangoi Health Centre through the Olam Foundation, with community leaders saying the support would help improve daily treatment for villagers in the Elimbari area.
Residents turned out in large numbers to receive Olam and members of his team, including SP Hunters players Radley Brawa and Glen Abavu, along with former rugby league player Michael Mark.
The donation came months after Olam visited the district to launch the Elimbari Rugby Football League competition, where he promised to continue helping local churches, schools and youth programs.
Health workers at the clinics said medicine shortages had been affecting services in recent months and the latest donation would assist staff in caring for mothers, children and elderly patients.
Officer-in-Charge Karl Bafi described the support as important for the people living in both East and West Elimbari.
“This donation is life-saving for the people and will make a real difference in the two clinics,” he said.
Local sports officials said Olam’s efforts were encouraging many young people to stay involved in rugby league and community activities instead of turning to social problems.
Community members also praised the rugby star for returning home to help people in remote villages despite his professional sporting commitments.
A local leader said Olam’s actions carried a strong message for the younger generation.
“When someone from our own place gives back like this, it shows our children what they can become. Success means more when it helps others,” he said.
Mam Tribe leader Michel Wai thanked the Olam Foundation and the visiting players for supporting health services and standing together with the people of Elimbari.
