PNG Government Cabinet reshuffle delayed until next week

The announcement of Papua New Guinea's long-awaited Cabinet reshuffle has been pushed back until next week, with Prime Minister James Marape expected to unveil the new National Executive Council after returning to Port Moresby.

The Prime Minister's Office confirmed on Friday, July 10, that the final list of ministers and portfolio allocations would now be released once Mr Marape completes official engagements in West Sepik Province.

Mr Marape travelled to Vanimo to take part in Connect PNG Program activities, where he is scheduled to launch several major infrastructure projects, including key road developments under the Government's national connectivity program.

The Cabinet reshuffle had been widely anticipated this week but has been postponed until the Prime Minister returns to the capital, with an announcement expected on Sunday or Monday.

Before departing Port Moresby, Mr Marape told a media briefing that the reshuffle would not only see changes in ministerial appointments but also a restructuring of several government portfolios.

He said the changes followed a comprehensive assessment of ministers' performances and were intended to strengthen the delivery of government services ahead of the 2027 National Election.
