PNG Air Suspends Mount Hagen Flights Over Runway Works

 PNG Air has temporarily suspended flights to and from Mount Hagen, PNG, following runway works at Kagamuga Airport that have reduced the available runway length.

The airline said it would increase services to Goroka and Lae from September 21 to provide alternative travel options for passengers affected by the Mount Hagen disruption.

Runway construction has reduced the available length from 980 metres to 880 metres, making it unsuitable for PNG Air aircraft to safely operate under the current conditions.

Passengers with confirmed bookings to or from Mount Hagen will be contacted by PNG Air to discuss alternative travel arrangements.

The airline has urged affected customers to ensure their contact details are correct and up to date so they can be reached about changes to their travel plans.

The National Airports Corporation has advised that the runway is expected to return to its previous 980-metre length on Monday, October 5.

PNG Air said it planned to resume Mount Hagen services once the runway was confirmed as operationally suitable for its aircraft.
