PNG And India Expand Medical Cooperation Through CPL-Apollo Partnership

Papua New Guineans seeking specialist medical treatment overseas will have a new referral pathway through a partnership between CPL Group's City Pharmacy Medical Clinic and India's Apollo Hospitals.

The arrangement, formalised in Port Moresby on Wednesday, September 9, is designed to connect patients with international specialist expertise while providing access to medical advice before they travel abroad for treatment.

The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by CPL Group chief executive officer Ajay Patel and Apollo Health senior manager for international marketing Dr Harsh Jadhav.

The signing took place following a Continuous Medical Education programme attended by visiting Apollo specialists, including cardiologist Dr Varun Bansal and oncologist Dr Asit Arora.

Port Moresby General Hospital oncologist Dr Peter Olali and other health professionals and industry representatives also attended the programme.

Mr Patel said the arrangement would give Papua New Guineans greater access to international medical expertise and help patients make better-informed decisions about specialist treatment.

He said the partnership would also provide an avenue for overseas medical knowledge and experience to be shared with healthcare workers in PNG.

Patients are expected to have access to specialist consultations, telehealth services, multidisciplinary clinical advice, advanced treatment options, robotic technologies and artificial intelligence-based healthcare solutions.

As part of the current programme, Dr Arora and Dr Bansal are scheduled to conduct oncology and cardiology consultations at City Pharmacy Medical Clinic in Port Moresby.

CPL Group said the partnership was aimed at improving access to innovative, patient-focused healthcare services for Papua New Guineans.

The company said it would continue working towards its vision of helping Papua New Guineans live better and healthier lives while developing its long-term relationship with Apollo Hospitals.
