Opposition threatens to prosecute speaker, clerk

The Opposition is threatening legal action against the Speaker of Parliament, Clerk and other members of parliament if they entertain a Vote of No Confidence tomorrow against the PM when parliament resumes its sitting at 2pm.
The call by the Opposition leader Don Polye comes after word reached his office from the Clerk of Parliament that the government wants to take a Vote of No Confidence immediately after the court recalled parliament without following parliamentary standing orders that upon introducing the motion for a No Confidence Vote, the house adjourns for 7 days and resumes for a vote.

Leader Don Polye said if the vote transpires tomorrow, the Speaker and Clerk of parliament will be taken to task.

He said such rushed agenda’s will further push the country down the pathway of a civil unrest and has called on the Speaker and PM Peter O’Neill to put the interest of the country ahead of their personal interests.
