Port Moresby set to welcome Home Team

Port Moresby is geared up to welcome home TEAM PNG from the Commonwealth Games in London, with our two Gold Medal Winners expected to arrives first at lunch tomorrow.

PNG finished 16th out of the 171 Commonwealth Nations and Territories after two weeks of intense competition but two of our very own home-grown athletes, Steven Kari and Dika Toua,  from Hanuabada Village will be the highlight of celebrations.

According to Dika’s father, celebrations have already begun in the village, while a working committee had been set up to organise for a separate welcome home reception for the two weightlifting champions at the Big village tomorrow.

The family and villagers will convoy from the village up to Jacksons International Airport to meet the two stars.

PNG Olympic Committee office has confirmed that Dika and Steven will in a separate flight at 12:15pm tomorrow while the rest of Team PNG arrives at 3pm.

An official welcome home reception for Team PNG will be held on Saturday with a Parade around the city also organised for Team PNG on the same day and will be led by Steven and Dika.
