Pop Starlet Taylor Swift Dumps Spotify
Taylor Swift has been singing about being broken-hearted in almost all her songs. This time around, the pop starlet is the one doing the dumping.
Taylor swift has reportedly snubbed Spotify, together with its 40 million users and removed her entire catalogue from the music streaming service.
Although the streaming service isn’t famously known for responding to such snubs, they snapped back with a blog post begging her to return.
According to the Associated Press, the statement was as follows.
“We were both young when I first saw you, but not there’s more than 40 million of us who want you to stay, stay, stay. It’s a love story, baby just say yes.”
In her editorial for Wall Street Journal back in July, Swift affirmed that musicians should stop distributing music for free. That music is art and it should be paid for.
“Rare things are valuable. Valuable things should be paid for. It’s my opinion that music should not be free, and my prediction is that individual artists and their labels will someday decide.”
Reports say that the pop singer’s new album 1989 is forecasted to be the year’s biggest seller and the accompanying tour to exceed $200 million in gross revenue.
