Opposition Leader Don Polye opens bridge in Wau
The full opposition caucus including Eastern Highlands Governor Julie Soso and Kikori MP Mark Maipakai were recently at Wau at the invitation of the local MP Sam Basil to officially open the two new bridges.
The two bridges ADO Compound Bridge and Darling Road Bridge costs the deputy opposition leader Mr Basil more than K500-000 to build in one month.
The two bridges were officially opened by the Opposition leader Don Polye and EHP Governor Julie Soso.
Opposition leader Don Polye whilst opening the ADO Compound Bridge commended Bulolo MP Sam Basil to carry out such major infrastructural developments in his district despite the late payment of DSIP funds into his district’s account.
Meanwhile, Community Rep William Yak while acknowledging the full opposition team to Wau said Wau is the birthplace of the country, where it once brought PNG to where it is now.
However, it is sad to see the township is regressing.
Mr Wak is appealing to the national government to invest back into Wau as a token of its appreciation of its contribution in building PNG.
On the other hand Bulolo MP Sam Basil aims to bring back the good days of the town. Basil is appealing to the youths in the town to take ownership of current developments happening in order to see for government services delivered to the town. PNG Today/PNGFM
