Oro Agriculture College to be transformed into University

The Oro Provincial Government today made a commitment with the National Government and the National Research and Science Council to fund and transform the Oro Agriculture College into a University of Natural Science Research and Agricultural Technology by 2018.
Oro Governor Gary Juffa told reporters today that the University will become the University of Eastern Papua and is calling on the Papuan Governors to assist in establishing it.
The Governor said the Institution will aim at teaching our own scientists and post graduate students in research and to better agricultural activities in the country.
Higher Education Minister, Malakai Tabar said the NEC has established a Higher Education Board which will assist the provincial government to establish a board of the Institution once established.
The Chairman of the National Research and Science Council Professor also said this will provide more space for students in the country to study at the University level and become researchers and write books that other researchers will read to get information rather than just reading books other researcher wrote.
He said this will also help in monitoring research work done by outside researchers and proper coordination of the outcomes of the research keeping the information in the country for better Agricultural and Technological Development in the Country.
