Governor Parkop urges Port Moresby City residents to remove corrugated iron fencing
Port Moresby governor , Powes Parkop has called on the city residents to remove or pull down all metal sheet or corrugated iron fencing and barbed wire protectors around their properties. Governor Powes Parkop says all fencing will now be standardized, as part of overall efforts to portray Port Moresby as a safe and live-able city in the world:
"Criminals are still getting into a building. The fence is still there but they find other ways to get in, so its not necessarily the fence is giving them security.
"But I understand the mindset and the type of changes that we need to make.
"I'm not saying, we pull down the fence, we are saying pull down the razor barbed wire. It's not good for the image of our city", Governor Parkop said.
Port Moresby is ranked 138th live-able city in the world, well below others like Tripoli and Lago's in Nigeria.
