Items with 2015 Pacific Games Logo Confiscated
The Games Organizing Committee (GOC) is again warning unauthorised goods manufacturers, distributors and retailers to not produce, buy or sell items carrying the Games and Tura Logos.
This comes after the Games Enforcement Unit raided a warehouse in Port Moresby distributing toilet paper carrying the Games logo on its packaging.
Over 830 boxes were removed from a business property in Gordon’s last Friday.
GOC’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Stewart said, “Businesses need to understand that the Games and Tura logos are registered trademarks of the 2015 Pacific Games and cannot be used for any commercial purpose without proper written consent”.
“Goods distributors and retail outlets that are unsure of products carrying our logos need check with us to avoid having their goods confiscated”.
At present the Games family of sponsors and approved stakeholders are allowed to use the Games trademarks.
Last month key tags with the Games logo were removed from a shop at the Vision City Mall by the Games Enforcement Unit.
“This unit is a dedicated team set up to protect Games Merchandise and enforce the commercial rights of the Games.
“They will continue to monitor the market for any illegal Games branded items, have them removed and destroyed” said Mr. Stewart.
The public is also being urged to report the sale of any suspicious Games items on the market to the Games Hotline on 180 2015.
