Rugby clinic in Solomon Islands addresses unemployment and nutrition

Our Rugby Plus clinics have started and we have already developed a great network of young people in the country.

The focus areas for our media component are unemployment and nutrition or healthy eating, important issues for young people in the Pacific.  Working closely with the participants, we are helping them appreciate how sports and media can help address these issues.

The school visits have been very interesting as we train and teach rugby and life skills to players and school coaches so that they can continue to enhance their players’ talents.

Our coaches have also learned so much from these young participants.  One thing that stands out is how youth grace life – their joy is so contagious!  It was so evident at the St Josephs Tenaru boarding school.  From the time we started to when we finished their smile and joy never dimed.

The youngest, a boy of 10 years old had the biggest heart.  I watched as he absorbed all the information we were sharing, and how he took on the biggest players with smiles and laughs on the field.

We are now looking forward to seeing the finished media products from the participants.
