New look, New Name, New Plane
One of PNG’s main airline companies, Airlines PNG has step up a notch in providing services to the people by re-branding itself and adding a new of aircraft to its current fleet.
Now calling itself PNG Air, the airliner last night welcomed its first ATR- 72 aircraft to its fleet at the Army’s Air Transport Wing in Port Moresby.
PNG Air’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Murray Woo says the re-branding and the new plane is to make the company a more major contributor to air services in PNG.
Meantime, PM Peter O’Neill thanked the airliner for its continued services, especially to the rural areas and also thanked the investors for making it possible for PNG Air to come to this level; however, he also made mention of the fact that for such services to continue, it will need the support of everyone, including politicians in the airline industry.
The new aircraft carries 72 passengers and is the first of five more that will be joining the airliners fleet early next year. It starts it’s first flight today and its first destination is Lae.
