Fiji Police Chief arrives in Port Moresby
The full Royal PNG Police brass band was out in force as Brigadier General Sitivani Quiliho the newly appointed Fijian Police Commissioner arrived in the country today, in his first official visit to Papua New Guinea in his capacity as the Police Commissioner for the Fijian police force.
Upon Arrival he was met by his PNG counterpart Police Commissioner Gari Baki along with a team from the Fijian High Commissioner with a guard of honour standing attention for the Police commissioner.
“The purpose of the official visit by the Fijian police commissioner Sitivani Quiliho is so that we can exchange dialogue on outstanding issues, we are privilege to have this visit from the newly appointed Police Commissioner from Fiji as he has chosen our country among the other MSG countries and Pacific countries to visit and we are pleased to have him”, said Police Commissioner Gari Baki
Among the “outstanding issues” to be discussed is exchange of police personnel between the two countries, Police tourism and other issues affecting pacific countries under the MSG label.
Fijian Police Commissioner Sitivani Quiliho was appointed on March the 4th 2016 as Police Commissioner by Fijian PM Frank Bainimarama after acting in the position for the last four months; he is a former Brigadier General and known for his tough talk and stance on issues and the third senior military officer to run the police force.
Quiliho will be in the country for two days and returns to Fiji tomorrow a welcome dinner will be hosted for him this evening at the Bomana Police College to be attended by senior police personnel including the Australian Federal Police senior officers. PNGFM/PNG Today
