2016 Pacific Update Conference to be hosted at USP

REGIONAL policymakers, academics and development practitioners will gather at 2016 Pacific Update Conference at the University of South Pacific in Suva from 18th to 19th July to present research and discuss latest economic and social developments in the region.
The conference is supported by Asian Development Bank, Asian Development Bank Institute, Australian National University’s Development Policy Centre and the University of South Pacific’s School of Economics.
The main theme of the conference will include some of the following topics; State owned enterprises reform, linking tourism and agricultural developments, disaster response and resilience, fisheries, labour mobility and migration and climate change and disaster response financing.
USP’s school of Economics is extending the cordially invitation Government Officials, Regional bodies, diplomats, business community, academics, students and members of the general public to participate.
The conference will be held at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, USP Laucala Campus, Suva. All participants are required to registration at the venue.
The conference is held annually and last year more than 100 regional policymakers, academics, development practitioners and various representatives from International Organizations attended the two-day conference in Suva.
Fiji’s Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Hon. Dr Mahendra Reddy in addressing the participants said the conference assisted the Pacific Island countries to “walk and work in tandem with the rest of the world.”
