Hunters in thriller come-from-behind win over Ipswich Jets 18 - 16
The SP Hunters have defeated defending champions Ipswich Jets 18 - 16 in front of a enthusiastic crowd of over 10 000 at the National Football Stadium this afternoon.
The Jets took half time lead 14 - 8 . On the 2nd minute, the Jets were on the score board 2 -0 through a penalty goal . on the 17th minute, another penalty went against the Hunters and the visitors further extended the lead to 4 - 0.
On the 20th minute, Hunters winger Adex Wera scored a try in the corner . Five-eight Ase Boas conversion was unsuccessful and the score was squared at 4 points a piece.
On the 25th minute, the Jets replied with a try. The conversion was unsuccessful and the visitors led 8 - 4.
On the 28th minute, crowd favourite and Hunters center, Justin Olam raised 50 meters and scored in the corner. Boas missed the uprights and the score was levelled at 8 all.
On the 31st minute, Jets No.18 Micael Purcell dashed through the Hunters defence and scored under the posts for the Jets. Haydn Lipp madena successful conversion and Jets lead 14 - 8 through to half-time.
