Life Style diseases are on the rise in PNG
Lifestyle diseases are on the rise with the lack of proper eating habits pinpointed to be the main contributor to these diseases in Papua New Guinea.
The fast food and high sugary fat intake lifestyle is causing health problems for people.
One such lifestyle disease that is fast becoming an epidemic among the womenfolk in Papua New Guinean is Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD).
According to the Senior Obstetrician and Gynecologist of Pacific International Hospital Dr James Sapuri, he operates two to three cases of PCOD each week and this is a concern.
Dr Sapuri says a high diet of sugar and carbohydrates gives rise to these ovarian complications that most times is asymptomatic or does not show any symptom until it is serious.
A change in diet and commitment to exercise can reduce your chance of falling prey to such disease.
