PNG Defence secretary dies

The Secretary of the Department of Defence Force, Vali Asi has died.
The late Secretary Asi, aged 56, died at the Kwikila Health Center after he had collapsed at his home village, in what family members suspect to be a heart attack.

The late Mr Asi leaves behind his wife, 4 children and one grandchild.
Mr Asi became the Defence Force secretary in 2015 and was suspended along with other heads of departments over the controversial Manumanu land deal mid this year.

According to his brother Malot Asi a state funeral will be accorded him at the Murray Barracks Chapel on Thursday.
