MSG requested to provide security assistance to PNG during the upcoming APEC Meeting
At the inaugural Police Ministers Meeting (PMM) held in December 2016 in Fiji, Papua New Guinea requested Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) member countries to provide security assistance during the APEC meeting.
The request was endorsed, and the Port Vila Secretariat was requested to undertake consultations on the operational aspects of the deployment.
Consistent with the decision of the PMM, the Secretariat conducted consultations in MSG capitals from 18-26 March 2018. The purpose of the consultation was to discuss details of the proposed deployment of Police officers from MSG Countries.
The MSG Secretariat will seek confirmation from PNG on the deployment at the Police Commissioners Conference (PCC) and Police Ministers Meeting (PMM) scheduled for 18-20 April to be held in Rabaul, East New Britain Province.
The MSG Secretariat team was led by Peter Eafeare, Deputy Director General, supported by Ilan Kiloe, Programme Manager Political & Security Affairs and Epineri Seibouma, Peace & Security Officer.
