PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill Steps down, Julias Chan is new acting Prime Minister

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister and Leader of PNC Party Peter O'Neill has stepped down as the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea , handing over the leadership of the Government to veteran politician Sir Julius Chan at 2pm today (Sunday 26th). Mr.O'Neill will officially tender his resignation on Monday.

In a grand announcement today, Mr O'Neill said the decision was done after much thought and discussion with the coalition partners.

Sir Julius, the oldest serving politician and a founding father of this nation, said he humbly accepted the challenge for the best interest of this country and its people.
