NCD proposes to ADB to improve Port Moresby City

Port Moresby city Commission  has submitted five proposals to the Asian Development Bank for financial and technical assistance on major development projects in the city.

Governor Powes Parkop met with the delegates in Manila recently to seek assistance.

An ADB delegate from the United States was in Port Moresby recently and taken on a tour around the city, and Parkop's visit was a return trip.

Proposals submitted were for the 9-mile settlement upgrading to suburbs, modernization, and uplift of Vabukori village, affordable housing, expansion to the Gordons Market and construction of other markets.

The last proposal is to develop a mechanism to improve the food supply chain from around the country to Port Moresby.

Parkop said, they left the meeting satisfied that NCD will have a strong relationship and partnership with the Asian Development Bank.

He further said, the significant changes happening in the city is as a result of a partnership forged by the National Capital District Commission with relevant stakeholders, and this will continue.
