No Checks for Coronavirus at Port Moresby's Jacksons International Airport

The Jackson's International Airport in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea is carrying on with its normal business, notably without any checks in place for overseas travelers.

The country is currently on high alert for the CoronaVirus which has already infected five in PNG's nearest neighbor Australia.

The virus which originated in Wuhan, China has claimed close to a hundred and infected thousands already.

NBC News visited the airport yesterday and today and spoke with several passengers who have admitted to not being checked.

This is despite assurances from relevant stakeholders like Immigration and Health Department that checks are in place with a health desk together with medical professionals stationed.

The National Airports Corporation has asked for a formal letter before any interviews.
