No Coronavirus in PNG
There is no suspected case of CoronaVirus in PNG.
Papua New Guinea Public Health Executive Manager Doctor Esorom Daoni has told NBC News today.
Dr. Daoni's remarks comes after reports on social media - Facebook, that a person of Chinese origin allegedly brought in the virus.
PNG is among other countries in the Pacific and the World ramping up surveillance to counter the deadly virus which is fast spreading across the globe.
Strict measures have been put in place at the country's major airports and wharves to monitor persons arriving from China and other Asian countries.
The airborne disease which originated in Wuhan, China, several weeks ago has already claimed thousands of lives.
Meantime, the National Department of Health will be calling a press conference tomorrow to clear the air on this issue and address other related matters.
