Port Moresby Recover K28,000 Worth of Building Materials Stolen in Scan

A Southern Highlands man who cunningly produced a bogus cheque and stole building materials from a hardware shop in Port Moresby worth K28, 000 is now in police custody.

The suspect allegedly forged a cheque belonging to a landowner company and purportedly used a bank stamp to mislead and defraud the hardware company on April 15.

After convincing the company employees, the suspect collected the building materials in two trucks and escaped.

The cheque bounced prompting the company management to retrieve CCTV video footage showing the identity of the trucks used in the delivery.

They gave the video to 6 mile police who then impounded the trucks and eventually recovered some of the materials at 14 mile and Vadavada settlement.

Members of 6 mile police then acted on intelligence information and staked out at Gordons yesterday and caught the suspect inside the main market.
