State of Emergency Restrictions in PNG to be relaxed : Manning
COVID-19 is in PNG and citizens have to be prepared to live with it.
Papua New Guinea SOE Controller David Manning said this when announcing that he will now relax some of the restrictions imposed earlier instead of allowing the country to be restricted by the pandemic.
Apart from the resumption of classes for University and tertiary level on Monday 27th April and classes for primary and secondary to resume on 4th of May, Manning announced he will relax transport restrictions.
Domestic air travel is one of the new order that will be relaxed and international travel in the interim will be allowed for PNG citizens and permanent residents to return home.
Manning says all public transportation will resume under strict COVID-19 health protocols or regulations.
For the NCD, taxis as of today (Wednesday) will operate only during the day as at night the curfew is still in force.
The Controller has also directed that ships and ports will allow for cargoes to continue.
