Newly elect Menyamya Open MP Philip formally sworn-in at Parliament House

 Member elect for Menyamya Hon. Benjamin Philip has been formally sworn-in by parliament Speaker Job Pomat.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Parliament House in the State Function Room today


Mr. Philip was accompanied by his colleague PNC Party members led Deputy PNC Party Leader Hon. Richard Maru, member for Koroba Kopiago Petrus Thomas, and Kandep Mp Alfred Manase.

Member for Pomio Hon. Elias Kavapore who is also PNC party member later joined them after the swearing in ceremony.

Deputy PNC Party leader Richard Maru said their attendance was to witness the official swearing-in of the member elect for Menyamya Hon. Benjamin Philip.

"There is no time for politics as it's over. Our aim now is to deliver services to the people of Menyamya," Maru said.

Member elect for Menyama Benjamin Phillip thanked the people of Menyamya for their support.

He said he will try his absolute best to deliver for the people of Menyamya within the remaining two and half years.

Mr. Philip also thanked the Marape/Steven Government for ensuring free, fair and safe By-election through Electoral Commission.

He said he remained committed to work together with Marape-Steven governement including other members of the parliament.

Mr. Philip won Menyamya By-election last week under PNC Party banner.

Meanwhile, Speaker Job Pomat after the swearing-in stressed that he was performing his duty by formalizing the member elect for Menyama.

He told media not to divert the course of the swearing-in ceremony with political party affiliation.

However, it is understood Speaker Job Pomat is a People's National Congress (PNC) member.
