PNG Defence Force Thanks Marape-Steven Govt for K73 million Funding
The Marape-Steven Government has been commended by the PNG Defence Force for making available k73 million, for the construction of 10 border outposts in the country.
PNGDF Commander Major General Gilbert Toropo said that the 10 border outposts will be built along the PNG/Indonesian land border for the first time in the country’s history since Independence.
Mr. Toropo said that this will give prominence to the country’s Border Security, to prevent illegal activities transcending through PNG's porous land border.
He said that this border post will ensure effective security, not only for the PNGDF presence, but other security agencies to be co-located, to maintain a comprehensive security presence and effective control of the country's border.
Major General Toropo also added that a secure border ensures a safer and secure PNG, which also contributes to investor confidence, and prevents illicit products from entering the country.
