PNG Laboratary Receives International Accreditation

WMW (Water Mate Watch) a local Laboratory operating as an SME in the country is quickly evolving as the local leader in scientific testing, certification, and verification.
The company has been hosting a few types of research in the field of environmental science, chemistry, and biology to strengthen the core science of Papua New Guinea.
WMW recently received its international accreditation from American Global standards (AGS), an American ISO registrar organization that assist manufacturing companies and service industries to remain competitive in the global market.
Managing Director for WMW Mr Tomson Tomoiye said it is an important milestone for the company to receive laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025.
He said the international accreditation now adds confidence and value to the work of the company’s local scientist who work hard every day.
“In recent past, PNG Government has been looking overseas for science bases answers, today you get that at your doorstep,” Mr Tomoiye said.
Mr Tomoiye said with the recent surge in the environmental disaster in PNG, there is a need for a locally accredited laboratory with world-class technology and testing services like WMW to meet and prevent those challenges from happening.
“We are proud of our ongoing commitment to Papua New Guinea’s development in science and research, which has been instrumental in the company’s growth and success over the last two years.”
“With our current accreditation, we plan to continue to work with our partners and the Government to contribute to PNG’s reputation as a great place to live and work in,” Tomson Tomoiye said.
Meanwhile, WMW Laboratory works with all the law enforcement like the Department of Environment and Conservation, National Department of Health, and World Health Organization, including other corporate citizens in the line of managing the environment and health.
The company’s capabilities allow it to rapidly develop new tests to detect real-time contaminants to provide authorities with actionable intelligence to better their environment and health.
Currently, WMW Laboratory employs more than ten people as part of its research, client support, and administrative operations.
