PNG Police to remove unauthorized Vehicle Number Plates
Papua New Guinea Capital Port Moresby Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N'Dranou says police will be clamping down on unauthorized registration number plates such as provincial flags, names, and symbols, privately created and affixed to vehicles, which are deemed illegal.
Mr Perou said vehicles running around with their own designed registration plates will be stopped, and the plates will be removed. He said the owners will be instructed to ground the vehicles until proper registration number plates are acquired from the Traffic Registry and affixed on the affected vehicles.
The Metsup said vehicle owners who continue to defy police instructions may be arrested and charged for causing a traffic infringement.
He said proper use of the registration number plates make it easier for police to monitor and identify stolen motor vehicles and also conveniently identify car owners wanted by police.
