PNG High Court says O'Neill has a Standing, proceeds with Hearing Substantive Matter
The Papua New Guinea Supreme Court has ruled former prime minister and member for Ialibu Pangia Peter ONeill has standing and will proceed with hearing the substantive matter.
O'Neill has filed the Supreme Court Reference seeking the interpretation of the court into the actions of parliament Speaker Job Pomat to reconvene parliament on the 17th of November, 2020.
The Supreme Court will proceed to hear the application at this hour.
Earlier the court refused to accept the application of 5 interveners to join in the reference.
The five interveners are Office of the Prime Minister, clerk of Parliament, Finance Minister & Leader of Government Business, Treasurer & Lawyer Paul Paraka as an ordinary citizen.
Only the office of the Attorney General and Parliament Speaker was allowed to be interveners.
