PNG Politics : I will not resign, says PM Marape

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, James Marape, said there is no vacancy in the Office of the Prime Minister, and the Executive Government is in place and working.

He said he will not resign because there are no grounds to do so.

I will not Resigns, says PM Marape

He has challenged the Opposition to bring forth the vote of no-confidence motion on the floor of Parliament, to affirm or denounce his leadership.

Mr. Marape remains confident of overcoming the leadership tussle, claiming 55 MPs on the Government side.

The Prime Minister said the 55 MPs he had on his side, their soul can not be traded or bought off by any material things such as money and he is happy to be sounded by them.

He made these remarks after the Supreme Court yesterday declared the sitting of Parliament on 17th November unconstitutional and ordered the House be reconvened next Monday.

Mr. Marape has appealed to people to respect the high court decision and let the politicians deal with all issues.

Mr. Marape made these remarks from the Loloata Island Resort, outside Port Moresby, where the Government side is in Retreat.
