COVID-19 : Another lockdown imminent for PNG Capital Port Moresby

The National Capital District is on the verge of another lockdown following a recent spike in Covid-19 cases around the country, especially in Port Moresby.

There is only one more stage to go before it reaches stage 4 were severe restrictions will kick in.

National Control Centre Incident Manager Dr. Daoni Esorom made this known on NBC's Covid-19 talkback show on Monday, this week.

''Stage 4 is when we are going to impose severe restrictions so NCD just standby, we get some more new cases and we will lock down NCD. Currently, NCD is on stage 3, and it is classified as having a large-scale community transmission. It's only one more stage to go and we put in place severe restrictions,'' said Dr. Daoni Esorom.

Meantime, PNG reported 34 new cases of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours (as of Tuesday 23rd of Feb) increasing the country’s total cases to 1,111.

The latest cases were reported in the Western Province, New Ireland, and in the National Capital District.

In NCD, 10 cases were reported of which five are males, four females, and one unknown.
