Writs for Bougainville Regional Seat By-election returned

The PNG acting Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai returned the Writs of the Bougainville Provincial Seat By-Election to the Head of State.  

Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae received the Writs this morning, (Tuesday 16th February 2021) marking the completion of the by-election.

Bougainville Regional MP elect Peter Tsiamalili was in attendance.

Mr. Tsiamalili polled more than 37, 000 votes eclipsing the absolute majority figure of 36,000. 

The acting Electoral Commissioner was full of praise on the outcome of the by-election. 

Mr. Sinai is satisfied the by-election was completed on time and the Writs returned before the deadline of 19th February 2021.
