Content and Faithful: Anthony Wagambie Jr's Perspective on Leadership and Divine Timing
Former Police Assistant Commission Anthony Wagambie Jr expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support he has received throughout his career. Contrary to recent speculation, Wagambie clarified that he has not actively sought the top police position, emphasizing his contentment with his current role and dedication to serving the community.
Wagambie, the first-born son of Inspector Anthony Wagambie Snr, shared the profound influence of his upbringing in a police family. Recalling childhood memories at Salamanda flats in Lae, Wagambie highlighted the early encouragement from his father, who envisioned him following in his law enforcement footsteps. Growing up surrounded by disciplined and respected officers, Wagambie's childhood dream was to join the riot squad.
The turning point in Wagambie's commitment to public service occurred during his Grade 11 year at Divine Word Institute (now Divine Word University) in 1993. Stranded at the Madang airport without communication means, Wagambie and fellow students faced potential danger due to a previous soccer team altercation. Their predicament ended when a police vehicle, led by an elderly officer and Mrs. Kalasim, wife of then PPC Madang Robert Kalasim, arrived with its blue lights flashing, dispersing potential threats.
This incident left a lasting impression on Wagambie, shaping his decision to pursue a career in law enforcement. Inspired by the impact a police presence had on ensuring safety, he made a vow to make a difference in people's lives.
In his message, Wagambie reiterated that his goal is not to attain the top police position but to continue contributing to community safety. Known for his tenacity in problem-solving, Wagambie finds satisfaction in implementing strategies for a safer community, ensuring men, women, and children can move freely without fear.
Wagambie concluded his message by expressing gratitude to his supporters and placing his trust in divine timing. Devoting his life to leading and serving those under his command, he aspires for his team to become "Blue Angels" — symbols of safety and protection in the community.
In a final note, Wagambie thanked his readers and invoked blessings upon all.
