He described China as one of PNG’s leading economic and trade partners, contributing immensely to the nation’s development.
Tkatchenko also expressed gratitude to Chinese businesspeople who have invested in and supported PNG’s development across various industries. He noted that currently, 1,700 Chinese businesses operate in the country, reflecting the strong economic ties between the two nations.
He acknowledged the contributions of Chinese nationals who have lived and invested in PNG over the last five decades, many of whom have become Papua New Guineans and call the country home. Tkatchenko remarked that this enduring relationship underscores the strength of the partnership between PNG and China.
