 Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has extended his congratulations to Donald J. Trump on his inauguration as President of the United States. Marape expressed optimism for enhanced collaboration between PNG and the U.S., underscoring their strategic partnership.

Marape highlighted the enduring relationship between the two nations, rooted in shared values and mutual respect. He acknowledged the United States’ pivotal role in promoting peace, security, and development within the Pacific region.

According to Marape, the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) remains a cornerstone of U.S.-PNG relations, reflecting trust and a commitment to regional stability. “This agreement bolsters our capacity to maintain security and explore opportunities for prosperity in the Pacific,” he said.

The Prime Minister also praised U.S. contributions to vital sectors such as healthcare, education, and climate resilience, aligning with PNG’s development goals. He commended American leadership in addressing pressing challenges impacting the Pacific region.

Marape expressed confidence in further advancing bilateral ties under President Trump’s administration. He reaffirmed PNG’s willingness to collaborate on addressing both regional and global issues.

“We are eager to deepen our partnership and work towards a secure and prosperous future for the Pacific and beyond,” Marape stated.
