In her new role, Bukikun is tasked with facilitating cooperation and building strategic alliances across the Pacific region. Her extensive experience in international development and governance makes her well-suited for the position.

Bukikun is originally from East Sepik and Milne Bay and holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of PNG. She also completed a Master’s in International Commercial Law at the University of Nottingham in the UK, supported by a Chevening Scholarship.

She started her career at Blake Dawson Waldron, now known as Ashurst Lawyers, in Port Moresby, and has accumulated more than 15 years of experience in governance, gender equality, and development.

Her previous roles include Assistant Resident Representative and Head of Governance at UNDP PNG, where she led programmes like the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative and secured large-scale funding.

Most recently, Bukikun was the Programme Coordinator for the Women in Leadership Programme at the Pacific Community's Sub-regional Office in Suva, serving in that role from May 2022 to May 2024.

In addition to her academic achievements, Bukikun holds several United Nations certifications in programme and procurement.
