PNG Champions Hekari Storm Into OFC Women’s Final

Hekari Women’s FC of Papua New Guinea secured a place in the final of the OFC Women’s Champions League 2025 after a dominant 6-1 victory over Fiji’s Ba Women FC in the first semi-final, held at Stade Pater in Pape’ete. The win marks a second consecutive appearance in the tournament final for the PNG powerhouse.

Hekari took an early lead when Nenny Elipas capitalized on a goalkeeping error in the 5th minute. Despite controlling the game, they missed several chances, allowing Ba to claw their way back. A penalty awarded against Hekari saw Ba captain Luisa Tamanitoakula equalize just before halftime, sending both sides into the break level.

The second half saw a sharp shift in momentum. Hekari came out with intensity and precision, as star forward Marie Kaipu netted a go-ahead goal before setting up two more for Elipas, who completed her hat-trick. Kaipu added a fourth with a well-placed header, and Phylis Pala put the match beyond doubt with a late penalty.

This commanding performance reinforces Hekari’s status as one of the top sides in Pacific women’s football. They now await the winner of the second semi-final to see who they will face in the championship match.
