PNG Hunters Thrash Magpies in High-Scoring Clash
Papua New Guinea SP Hunters delivered an emphatic 52-32 victory over the Souths Logan Magpies in Round 21 of the Hostplus Cup at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby on Sunday, 17th August.

The Hunters produced a dominant first-half performance, running in multiple tries to establish a commanding 28-10 lead at the break. Speed and precision in attack proved the difference as the home side thrilled the Port Moresby crowd with their attacking flair.
Star winger Solo Wane was outstanding, crossing for four tries in the 20th, 44th, 50th, and 74th minutes. Manisa Kai also bagged a double within three minutes, while Ila Alu, Alex Max, and Joshua Lau added to the Hunters’ nine-try tally. Clent Lama was clinical with the boot, slotting eight conversions.
For the Magpies, NRL-experienced Anthony Milford opened the scoring in just the second minute and added another try in the second half. Phranklyn Mano-Le-Mamea, Israel Leota, Rory Ferguson, and Floyd Aubrey also crossed the line, while Latrell Siegwalt kicked four conversions.
Despite the Magpies’ late surge, the Hunters maintained control throughout, showcasing their ability to combine speed and power in attack. The 20-point win highlighted their determination to finish the season strongly.
With this result, the Hunters reaffirmed their strength at home and gave their fans plenty of reasons to cheer as they push forward in the Hostplus Cup campaign.
