Marape described the WEF as an important venue for innovation and policy dialogue, saying it allows PNG to position itself prominently on the international stage. “The WEF is a global hub of frontier-thinkers and innovators that can influence public policy,” he said.
Last year, Marape met with executives from ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, and other global investors to advance key projects, including Papua LNG. He plans to continue these discussions during the forum from January 19 to 23.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed PNG’s ambition to establish special economic zones and encourage partnerships that will boost manufacturing and downstream processing, with the goal of exporting finished goods to regional markets.
Reforms to the investment framework are also on the agenda, designed to provide a legal and regulatory structure that ensures the country’s long-term economic security.
Marape urged citizens to maintain a strong reputation internationally, highlighting the influence of global observers in shaping investment opportunities. “A key focus of the discussions at WEF was the Government’s commitment to reforming PNG’s investment framework,” he said.
