Attractive PNG Local crafts and arts
By Owapelg Mandikel-Kouh
Crafts made by local craftsman from Mendi, Southern Highlands Province are on sale. The craftsman has his stall in Mount Hagen City. Rana Pania, 62, from Ungumap tribe of Mendi produces baskets of all sizes, borrows and arrows, different size trays and traditional axes and sells them at Mount Hagen City but not many customers come for his produce. “I know people need my products but I cannot reach people who will buy them. And that is my struggle,” he said. “Traditional Axes are going on for sale, Basket with Lids on for sale, Borrows and Arrows and Trays in various sizes on sale. I think these products are good for people who need an alternative basket from locally made but I have no market to sell them,” he added.
Rana has been producing those products for a very long time now and he is experienced enough to produce on bulk orders for clients. For more information and to place your order for shipment, call Rana Pania on +675 71100772 or send an email to Niugini Exotic Tours at: howarig2015@gmail.com
