Air Niugini boasts on-time-performance

The National flag carrier, Air Niugini, now boasts an on-time-performance level which already exceeds 85 per cent, and it is confident this will get even better.

This was from Air Niugini’s general manager-Ground Operations, Aviation and Security Marco McConnell while announcing Mendi as the top performing port for Category D.

The announcement and presentation of the award had also coincided with its Highlands Region Managers Conference which was held in Port Moresby over the weekend.

Mr McConnell said it was Air Niugini’s goal to remain as the premier airline, not just for PNG, but the region as well.

He stated that with the initiatives that had been undertaken by the management under the leadership of its chief executive officer-Simon Foo, this goal was achievable.

He said the OTP awards system to be one of them and in line with Mr Foo’s directives on the three C’s-that being-change management, to be cost effective and customer service.

"As you know Air Niugini had been lagging with its on-time-performance and to address this issue, the CEO had given directives to prepare the competition through an awards system.

"OTP is driven by passion, the efforts of the managers are recognized and the achievement celebrated as a team," Mr McConnell said.
