PNG's Notorious criminal and rapist Kapis Escapes

Either planned or a terrible co incidence, one of Papua New Guineas notorious criminals William Kapis, escaped from Bomana Jail outside Port Moresby yesterday, just hours before thousands of women throughout the country began the protest against violence, the Haus Krai.

Kapis, escaped about 2 o’clock with two other dangerous prisoners.

It was revealed that the trio walked out the main gate of the high security prison with two factory made pistols. They held up the only guard and made their escape.

Their escape has set to raise temperatures in the country over security at jails.

Kapis who comes from East Sepik was charged with murder following the killing of an inmate in Bomana in January this year.

Assistant Police Commissioner Jim Andrews said he has deployed his men yesterday to hunt down the escapees.

Correctional officers have also been deployed to various points of the central province to try and head them off.
