PNG PM has invited Indonesia to invest in PNG's natural resources and other sectors
Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has invited Indonesian businesses and investors to come to Papua New Guinea and invest in the country's natural resources and other sectors.
Mr O'Neill issued the invitation when he addressed the PNG and Indonesian Business Forum in Jakarta yesterday.
He told Indonesian business and investment friends to come invest and enter into joint ventures with PNG's small to medium enterprises in areas of tourism, finance and commerce, training and agriculture.
Mr O'Neill says there is already an extensive business and investment relationship between both countries with Indonesian companies already participating in PNG's economic growth, through retailing, real estate and the extractive natural resources sectors.
But he says there are more opportunities PNG offers and he's challenged businessmen and investors to take advantage of these especially with both countries having just entered into landmark agreements such as the Air Services Agreement, Cooperation on Youth, Sports, Education, Petroleum and Commerce.
He says there has never been a better time to invest and do business with PNG, when PNG is enjoying a strong economy, as well as a stable political environment, conducive to attracting foreign investment.
Mr O'Neill re-emphasized the great potential for PNG and Indonesia private sectors to partner in business and investment in PNG.
