Work will soon start on upgrading the Sir John Guise Stadium to international standards, for the 2015 Pacific Games.
A ground breaking ceremony, to mark the start of work, was officiated by Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, in Port Moresby today.
Global Construction will do the initial demolition, clearing and preparation.
The stadium will be where the opening and closing of the Pacific Games will be held, as well as athletics, hockey, rugby sevens, rugby league 9's and soccer.
