KUMAN CARRY's ON LEGACY

Standards and quality education remains the core business in the education sector and the government is fully committed to provide the highest level of quality elementary to secondary for all children.

New Minister for Education Nick Kuman conveyed this during the official handover takeover ceremony today.

Mr Kuman takes over from outgoing Minister James Marape who has been very passionate on educational achievements and its long term purposes over the years.

Mr Kuman said as he takes on the leadership invested in him by the government, he will attempt to improve access and most importantly the quality of education.

Mr Kuman said education will always be a tool for success and its rightful the government has placed greater investment in human capital. 

He said for PNG to be a middle income country as defined by vision 2050, investment in human capital as pillar number one should be owed to our people. 

The Education Minister said this while assuring the outgoing Minister that he will continue from where he had left , placing central focus on teacher training, Standard based curriculum, compulsory education and the new education system structure.

Mr Marape in his concluding remarks said there are many more greater challenges ahead which will require a collaborative effort and assured the new minister that he will continue to support the ministry through technical support and advise.

The ceremony was witnessed by Secretary for Education Dr Michael Tapo, Members of the National Education Board, Development partners and staff from the Ministry of Education.
