Police have boosted manpower and will monitor and stop any illegal gatherings for a month.
Police in Port Moresby have warned members of the public not to hold or participate in any protest starting today.
Acting NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’Dranou said any planned demonstrations will be illegal because one of the demands of the NGO’s and their supporters is for the PM to step aside and that would be contempt because the matter is before the courts and secondly, not formal notice was served to the police in relation to the strike.

Members of the public who are working can carry on with their normal duties but must stay away from the illegal gatherings as police will use force to disperse any crowd.
