Rural electrification for North Wahgi
A major rural electrification project has been launched in the North Wahgi District of Jiwaka Province over the weekend
Local member and Defence Minister Dr Fabian Pok officially launched the District Services Improvement Program funded project in front of a packed crowd at Nondugul station.
"Electricity will run through all of Nondugul village and I want you to look after the service that is provided, so that it helps you out in the long run.
"Road links connecting parts of the district will be sealed and more projects carried out within the next twenty-four months so you must be ready to embrace change," Mr Pok told the cheering crowd.
Two Feasibility studies done at Nondugul and Banz area have already been concluded.
Based on the studies 2,000 power poles have been brought in from New Zealand, lines were bought from Fiji, bolts and nuts for the projects were ordered from Indonesia and are all on location ready to be erected.
The project is expected to cost over K10 million when completed.
